The beginners basket club is an evening sessions running for two consecutive Thursdays, 6th and 13th Feb 2025. We will be making round willow baskets, and covering a range of techniques and topics during the two sessions.

We will be a small group of only 4 participants, so you will have plenty of 1-2-1 time and it will be a relaxed, friendly, cosy learning environment in my personal workshop.

The sessions will cover the following topics:

Session 1

• Willow selection, sorting and soaking

• Basket designs and shapes

• Making up to 2 bases for round baskets

Session 2

• Staking up our bases

• Weaving the sides, covering two different types of weaving

• Learning a simple trac border, discussing multiple border styles

I want this to be a very open, flexible learning opportunity, so you will have the chance to make the basket that you want to make and there will be plenty of time and space for all questions and extra learning you want to do, this course is destined for people who are keen and passionate about learning basketry.

Location - Oxleaze Lane, Dundry, Bristol, BS41 8JZ. You will receive the exact location and arrival instructions upon booking.

Cost - £80 per person. This covers all material and tool use for both sessions, plus all the tea and biscuits your heart desires!
