Workshop - Beginners Bowl Turning

I will be teaching a one day beginners bowl turning course at the lovely Small Woods Association site in Telford.

Using hand tools and a traditional, Viking style lathe, we will work from a log, axing out a bowl ‘blank’ and turning it on a foot powered lathe.

Pole lathe bowl turning was an endangered craft until a few years ago, the craft has now seen a resurgence and it is a wonderful thing to have a go at.

This course is suitable for beginners, but a basic level of hand tools is useful, although not essential. We will be using sharp tools, such as axes, saws and knives throughout the day.

A good fitness level is useful as it is quite a physically demanding day.
